New Australian Citizenship Application Fees Effective from 1 July 2025
New Australian Citizenship Application Fees Effective from 1 July 2025
Are you planning to apply for Australian citizenship? Make sure you’re aware of the new citizenship application fees coming into effect from 1 July 2025. The Department of Home Affairs has announced that updated charges will apply for various citizenship application types, including citizenship by conferral and citizenship by descent.
Why Are Australian Citizenship Fees Increasing?
The Australian Citizenship Amendment (Indexation of Fees) Regulations 2025 will apply annual indexation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This ensures the program remains financially sustainable and efficient. Most standard application types will see modest fee increases, while some concessional and sibling-related fees will remain unchanged.
The last citizenship fee update occurred in July 2024, and the new increase from 1 July 2025 is part of the government’s routine adjustment process.
